Coltrane's only album as leader for Blue Note, recorded September 1957 at Van Gelder Studio. The session featured Lee Morgan, Curtis Fuller, Kenny Drew, Paul Chambers, and Philly Joe Jones. The title track's intricate changes became a jazz standard, showcasing Coltrane's "sheets of sound" technique in full bloom.
