Million Voices Whisper by Warren Haynes.

Warren Haynes returns with "Million Voices Whisper," a sprawling double-LP statement that finds one of American music's most soulful voices reaching deep into blues, rock, and gospel-tinged introspection. Pressed on opaque canary yellow vinyl as an Indie Record Store Exclusive limited edition, this is a release built for collectors who want their music both heard and held. Issued under exclusive license to Fantasy Records, it carries the warmth and heft that Haynes fans have long treasured.

The album stretches across four sides, opening with the momentum of "These Changes," "Go Down Swinging," and "From Here On Out" before deepening into more searching territory. Side B centers on the extended "Find The Cost Of Freedom > Day Of Reckoning," a segued piece that gives the players room to breathe, followed by the raw ache of "Real, Real Love" and "Terrified." The back half moves through "This Life As We Know It," the jamming trilogy of "Lies, Lies, Lies > Monkey Dance > Lies, Lies, Lies," and closes with the reflective "Hall Of Future Saints" and "Back Where I Started."

At the heart of this record is a remarkable reunion. Derek Trucks lends his unmistakable slide guitar throughout and shares production duties with Haynes, a partnership that colors the whole set with fluid, conversational interplay between two masters of the instrument. Haynes himself handles guitar, slide guitar, and vocals, anchoring every track with his signature grit and grace.

The supporting cast is equally deep. Lukas Nelson adds guitar and vocals, while Jamey Johnson brings his weathered baritone to the vocal mix and Saundra Williams contributes backing vocals. John Medeski's keyboards weave through the arrangements, and the rhythm section rotates between bassists Andy Hess and Kevin Scott alongside drummer Terence Higgins. A vivid horn section rounds out the sound, with Jenny Hill on saxophone, Buford O'Sullivan on trombone, and Pamela Fleming on trumpet, giving several tracks a rich, brassy lift.

Care was taken at every stage of production. The recordings were captured by a team including Bobby Tis, Evan Bakke, Josh Grenko, and T.W. Cargile, with Greg Calbi and Steve Fallone handling the mastering. Stefani Scamardo served as executive producer, and the package design by Paul Moore is paired with photography from Shervin Lainez, giving the release a cohesive visual identity to match its musical ambition.

Made in the U.S.A. and released in 2024, this canary yellow pressing is a standout addition to any collection of contemporary blues and roots rock. For fans of Haynes, Trucks, and the broader jam and Southern soul tradition, "Million Voices Whisper" is an essential document of players at the top of their craft.
